Children's Ministries
Children's Ministries has a heart to teach our children about faith in Jesus through many different activities. .
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6)
Who: Our children’s ministry is geared toward kids ages 5 through 12.
What: We have a Sunday school class that meets every week during service, in addition to special events throughout the year.
When: Every Sunday, volunteers gather the kids near the end of worship and bring them back downstairs at the end of service.
Where: Children’s church takes place upstairs, with a lead teacher and helper.

Mission: Our hope at Liberty Christian Fellowship is for our children to abide by the greatest commandment, which is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind, and the second commandment, which is to love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:36-40). By His grace, God helps us to live up to His glorious standards by giving us His Spirit, by which we are being transformed into the likeness of Christ (2 Corinthians 3:18). With the help of the Holy Spirit, we attempt to submit to the perfect will of God (Galatians 5:25). The purpose of our Sunday school or children’s church is to build fully devoted followers of Christ in this little corner of the world (Luke 9:23).
To fulfill this assignment from God, our volunteers teach Scripture-based lessons that utilize:
Memory verse challenges
The Word of God guides our path in this life. We want the Creator of the universe, who knows what is best for us, to inform our decisions. Our volunteers present simple, straightforward Scriptures that the children can accessibly store in their hearts and learn the meaning of in greater detail throughout the course of the class.
Scripture reading and explanation of the core content
There is power in the Word of God. We have the divine opportunity to know the mystery of God through Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:2-3). We read Scripture aloud and explain the meaning of the passage, defining terms like “grace” and “mercy” and seeking to answer questions that the passage brings to the surface.

Visual aids
Pictorial representations help our spiritual eyes to be opened. Our bulletin board shows images such as the hand of God reaching down from heaven to offer help to a person who is discouraged, or a poster of a hand-drawn butterfly with a cross as the body to represent the new life given to us by faith in Jesus Christ.
Object studies
During Jesus’ earthly ministry, He often taught using objects as examples, which we find throughout the Bible. The book of Psalms tells us that God’s Word is a lamp onto our feet and a light onto our path (Psalm 119:105). Furthermore, the book of Matthew instructs us that the light of Christ that dwells within us should not be put under a bowl but should be placed on a lampstand to shine for all the people in the house (Matthew 5:14-16). With this theme of light, we bring real-world objects (a lamp, candles, a bowl, a lampstand) into the classroom to illustrate and consider Biblical concepts.

Bible stories, people, and history
There is always a person or set of persons in the Bible whose story shows the principles of God at work that fits with our theme. For instance, as we explore the theme of “Being a New Creation,” we learn about the Apostle Paul who had an experience on the way to Damascus where he heard the voice of Jesus. God filled Paul with His Spirit and used him to reach people for Christ. In the same way, God delivers us from sin and empowers us to live for Him and help other people who desperately need His love. Jesus changed Paul’s heart and life and made Him a new creation for His glory and the good of others.
Crafts
We typically end our class period with a craft that goes along with the theme, such as making a caterpillar out of Play-Doh as a means to remember the old self we once were, drawing the wind of the Holy Spirit breathing on a cocoon to represent the transformation we are going through as believers, and making a “Jesus gives us new life” butterfly with a popsicle stick as the base.

Principle Reinforcement
Throughout all this, children are hearing, interacting with, and pondering the principles of God, including obedience to parents, denying our sinful nature, and showing kindness to others. Through our relationship with Jesus, no matter what trials may come in life, we have a firm foundation in Him to live righteously and enjoy the privilege purchased by Christ’s work on the cross to be a part of the Kingdom of God.
Prayer
Much ongoing prayer goes into this ministry, from the leadership and church members to our time in class together where we give thanks to God and ask for His will to be done in us.
All of these components are centered on understanding the nature of Christ and how the Word of God applies to us. Each month’s theme (such as “Being a Light in a Dark World”) ushers us into experiencing an in-depth exploration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our desire is for our children to know the meaning of life, their purpose on this earth, and their eternal destiny with their Savior while having fellowship with one another in the Lord.

Parents,
You love your children, but sometimes they talk back, roll their eyes, and don’t want to do their
homework. You’re doing the best you know how, but parenting is tough! Let us help you.
First, let me introduce myself. My name is Tanaya Dukelow and I am the new children’s
director at Liberty Christian Fellowship. I am excited to serve my church and the local
community in this role. I am inviting you to become a part of our church family. Here’s why:
Liberty Christian Fellowship is a small church with a home feel. We are a family because we
have the bond of Christ. Psalm 133:1 states: “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for
brethren to dwell together in unity!” Our lives are far from perfect but we know who to turn to
in the storm and who is our continual source of peace and joy.
At Liberty Christian Fellowship, you will meet parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents
who have gone through pain, struggle, and hardship and are learning to place their hope in the
Lord Jesus Christ. We are a group of broken people who find our refuge and strength in the one,
true living God!
In Proverbs 22:6, the Lord assures us: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is
old he will not depart from it.” Our Sunday School is a place for your children to grow in the
knowledge of God and receive wise instruction that will last a lifetime.
Our pre-service fellowship starts at 9:30 a.m. With free coffee and snacks, this is a special time
to talk to other people, update each other on life happenings, and enjoy the presence of those
who genuinely care about you! In our prayer room, you can be a part of seeking the blessing of
the Lord on the service and on His people. At 10 a.m. come into the sanctuary for a meaningful
worship experience and a heartfelt sermon.
